  • Write a short definition for the each of the following:
    • Open Educational Resources (OER) OER are free online resources available to learners.
    • Open Source Open sources are platforms or programs that are available to the public to add or modify as they see fit. It is used as a collaboration tool.
    • Copyright Copyright gives the creator exclusive rights to the product or service. Within the copyright it gives the creator credit, lists those whoe can edit, and those who can receive finacial benefits.
    • Intellectual Property Rights Gives rights to the individual for creations of the mind such as drawings, artistic work, and other creative products.
    • Creative Commons Work that is freely used, shared and built upon with specific directions from the creator.
    • Public Domain Any work that is no longer a part of a copyright because of various reasons
    • CC Licenses States what the creator allows to be done to their creative thought. Depending on what the creator allows, other may build upon, edit, remix, or distribute the work.
    • Curriki This site allows for open communication and development of lessons and curriculum among educators.
    • Thinkfinity They offer resources, at home activities and professional development opportunities for teachers
    • Connexions A place to view and share resources among other educators
    • P2PU Online community where people can learn various topics by completing one task at a time.
    • EPICEd Professional online community that offers the community lessons, teaching strategies, and/or planning models to help teachers incorporate technology and sustain it in the classroom
    • 21st Century Skills There are two parts to the framework of 21st century skills. There are four students outcomes desired: Life and Career skills, Core subjects with the three R's, The 4 C's critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity, the last outcome desired is the need for information, technology and media skills. The support systems are: standards, assessments, curriculum, instruction, professional development, and learning environments.
    • Wiki If a free software platform that allows its users to edit and collaborate digitally. Can be used between co-workers to allow for open editing of content.
    • Merlot Is an open and free online community that allows peers to review learning material online. Merlot's goal is to provide quality and quantity of faculty designed courses.
    • Blog A blog is a website where you can write whatever you want. It is designed so that the new information is at the top and topics can be personal, political, informational or anything you like it to be!
